It has 246 km2, 56 km long and 8 km wide, and a population of 10,500 inhabitants.
The island is distinguished by its long narrow shape and by the presence of numerous coves (geologic formations that result from the fall of part of the slopes over thousands of years) that gave rise to small and quaint villages.
